We just had Kerry and Keith finish the 5th grade maturation program and we wanted to share what a tremendous experience it was this year for the students! Mike and I have sat in on this program for over 5 years now and this was hands down the most engaging and beneficial one to date. The morning programs started with the teachers creating a welcoming and safe environment before transitioning to the sensitive material that all students are typically scared of. Both groups were glued to every word coming out of the instructors mouth.

The coed session was absolutely incredible! The students were locked in from the start when Kerry & Keith appeared to be sharing with each other what topics were covered in their individual sections. There seemed to be a sigh of relief that the boys and girls got to hear a little about what was discussed in the gender specific program. The discussion on what HIV & AIDS is and how we can protect ourselves from it was a perfect balance of detailed information on the viruses and delivering it effectively on a level that the 5th graders would understand. The Q & A session at the end made students feel validated as Kerry/Keith were not only  informative but made students feel heard by genuinely thanking them for asking a particular question.
